Dan Peters                                Poetry

In reading this generous and graceful book, I am reminded of a line from Gerard Manley Hopkins: “There lives the dearest freshness deep down things.”  It is that dearest freshness that one encounters over and again deep down in Dan Peters’ poems.

Ordinary, decent lives, and the plain landscapes where we live them, deserve to be commemorated like this.  I didn’t want the book to end.
